Epoxy Coaltar

Epoxy Coaltar

DESCRIPTION

Two-component, epoxy based paint modified with coal tar. It is a topcoat paint that may be used on any surface, and it may also be used as the last coating on steel and concrete surfaces to be buried into the ground due to its excellent adhesion and excellent resistance to corrosion and chemicals.

PROPERTIES
  • High resistance to corrosion.
  • Excellent resistance to moisture.
  • High protection from salt water and chemicals.
APPLICATION SURFACES

It is applied on any concrete and steel surfaces that are constantly under the ground such as paint lines, fuel oil tanks and tank base concretes, manholes, foundation piles, etc. It is also applied on any concrete and steel surfaces that are constantly in water such as tube piles of docks, spillways, dam and regulator gates, floats and pontoons, and underwater parts of sea vehicles, bilges and ballast tanks. Additionally, it is used in ports and shipyards, on the inner surfaces of any pipes that carry chemical waste water and sea water.

APPLICATION METHOD

Component 2 is added into Component 1 and mixed with a mixer at low speed. The mixing should continue until the two components form a homogenous mixture (for about 2-3 minutes). After preparing, the mixture should be left to rest for 10 minutes. The mixture must be used within around 5 hours of preparing it (at room temperature). The mixture prepared is applied using a brush, a roller or an airless sprayer onto the surface which has been scraped, sandblasted, washed, bathed in solvent, roughened and cleaned as necessary. If the product will be applied with a brush or a roller, it must be diluted with epoxy thinner by 5-10%. Avoid application if ambient temperature is +10°C and below. The relative humidity should be maximum 75% and surface temperature should be minimum +5°C. Drying time: The surface drying occurs after approximately 5 hours at ambient temperature of 20°C. The first setting and recoating time is 24 hours. Please wait for 24 hours before recoating. The final cure of the product takes place at the end of day 7. The product should not be exposed to any chemical effect throughout its 7 days’ final curing duration.
